At the end of the 19th century, after having finished his engineering studies, father Alphonse Pierre was constantly on the lookout for improvements to the performance of the car engines of his era.

His son, Alphonse, who as a highly competent mechanic had moved to England during the 1914-18 war and become chief mechanic in a major British transport company, also caught the improvement bug.

However, a bout of homesickness brought him back to Brussels in 1920 where he opened a garage with his brothers.

More than mechanics, road transport which did not really exist at the time, tempted him and he went about transforming his old Model T Ford into a van.

The Alphonse Pierre transport company thus came into being on 1 June, 1924.

At that time, it was rare to come across any vehicles that could manage more than 80,000 km on the narrow and badly paved roads. Without heating, power steering, shock absorbers, and with rather unreliable brakes at rather slow speeds, a pioneer's spirit was needed to drive such vehicles.

The company then set up in Wavre, on the site of an old forge, at 62 rue de Namur.

In order to face rapidly expanding competition in the road transport section, in 1935 Alphonse Pierre opened a garage at 145 rue de Namur which housed six vehicles and a repair workshop.

The post-war years were marked by the appearance of British and American trucks and tractors of greater tonnage such as MACK, WHITE and FODEN which were always petrol-driven. They encouraged road transport and signalled the end of the supremacy of the railways.

In 1956, it was the turn of Gilbert, Alphonse's son, to take over the family business.

Transformations were introduced almost immediately. Gilbert and his wife developed transport facilities for factories and papermills.

In 1982, Transports Pierre S.A., a limited liability company, was set up.

Activities were transferred to the present site, the former site of Gastuche papermills, a property bought by Gilbert Pierre to be able to expand his company.

It is part of this property, known generally as "Parc Artisanal de Gastuche", where the Pierre Logistic group is currently housed.

In 1994, two of Gilbert's sons, Guy and Olivier, took over with the idea of increasing staff, the number of transport vehicles and expanding the warehousing area.

Nowadays, Pierre Logistics has around 40 vehicles from vans to semi-trailers.

We criss-cross the highways of Belgium and other European countries to move you and your merchandise.

There will soon be 3,000 extra square meters to be added to the existing 12,000 square meters of warehouses already available for storage.
